Start with the audience

A useful brief describes more than demographics. It explains what people are trying to do, what makes the decision difficult and why they would choose this business. Write those questions down before collecting visual references.

Choose a clear position

A positioning statement is a working decision about who the offer serves and what makes it valuable. It does not need to become a public slogan. It should help the team evaluate ideas and reject directions that do not fit.

Translate the idea into a system

The logo is one part of the identity. Typography, colour, images and layout need to work together across different sizes and situations. Evaluate the system on a real page, a document and a small social avatar.

Make the handover usable

Provide practical examples and editable assets alongside the guidelines. A team should be able to make an everyday presentation or social post without inventing the brand again.
